WORK IT

Mamboz wadolli??

Make Up Artist: Hanako

Sometime ago, I blogged about a shoot that I would be styling in Nakuru.

Well, the pics are out and boy don't they look amazing?

Here are some of my favorites. It was so hard to pick because all of them look fabulous plus some other pics are not out yet.

The shoot took place at The Safari Rally Garage in Nakuru. We had the whole garage plus the rally cars to our disposal. We left Nairobi at 8 got to Nakuru and the shoot started at 11:00 A.M and ended at 21:30 P.M.  Styling and Directing 16 Non-models is quite a job, but the moment I laid my eyes on the final pieces, it all dawned to me why I prefer styling to modeling.

I guess I love making people look good and glamorous.

Tell me which picture is your favorite and for more pics from thi shoot  like my Facebook page to get a link to 2die4 page (The Fashion house that I work with)

Kick Ass

Mambo zenu??
It's only tuesday and i need a weekend already. I have been running all over Nairobi for the last two days delivering my CV and Demo Tapes to any media organization. And to add to all the "hecticity" (my word)- I have a final Public relations project due on Thursday that requires me to produce a media kit for any superbrand organization. It really does suck being senior in a Communications university

So due to my hectic circumstances of late, and the fact that dropping your CV's might sometimes mean meeting with professionals I decided to wear  a fusion of casual (to enable me to move around) and something official (to look presentable)

That means no Tshirts ,no heels and an imperative of keeping Edge at a minimal but still not compromising it.
So this is what i came up with honeys:

I went for the "boychic"(my word) look that included:
A gentlemans tux shirt and half coats, a polka dot bow tie, mismatched XL button clip-ons, aviator shades and grey brogues.

Incase you were wondering where this is at. I took this pics at China center where Joe Makeni (my fave photographer) works. My camera is still dead :( but will be up by thursday :)
(This deserves a party)

My favorite part of this outfits where my grey brogues. After a lot of searching for a pair of brogues that are not from Mr Price and a lot of exhausting minutes spent on explaining to shopping assistants what brogues are, I gave in and went and purchased myself a pair of this beauts.

Have a kick ass day Honeys!!

GRRRRRL POWER!!!!

Maybe you don't recognize what you got between your thighs!!!
Those where the first words that came to my mind when i saw this amazing themed photos by Joe Makeni.

Those are the words from my favorite Jill scott song-"Rolling Hills."
Here is some of the lyrics:

Maybe you don't recognize what you got between ya thighs
So I'm gonna set you right
And I'm starting here tonight
Shine like the moon
And strong like the sea
More expensive than money, more valuable than anything
Juicy mango summer peach
Make a lame man walk and a full man hungry

And if you don't know what I'm saying then baby I'm telling you

There's power in them rolling hills, come on
You're a prize possession, not everybody's worthy
Only reason I know is cause I headed down that road
And it'd be a shame for you not to have your own glow

Maybe you don't recognize what you got between your eyes
So I'm gonna set you correct so you can get what you should get
Intuition's something deep
Let you know what you know, let you find before you seek
Spirit of discernment, pray for it everyday
Let you know who should go and who you should let stay

And if I might Add to this song:
Maybe you dont recognize what you have beetween your boobs (your left boob to be precise)
There lies you heart, the wellspring of life and above all else, you must guide it with all of you.

Because there in lies Love,
It's Intricate. So guard it with all of you
Because, therein lies power

And if you don't know what I'm saying then baby I'm telling you.

You've got power!!!

Good week y'all

P.s: I am not for getting all violent and other shenanigans.
This picture serve as a visual metaphor of the strength of a woman, not for women battering men :)

Gotta Love this

Hey guys.
I  have been prepping for a major choreography that I will be doing in Nakuru next weekend.
It might sound to you that I am preparing so early for a shoot, but trust me honey; being an Image director is not an easy job.

I have been trying to get into the Zone. The way I do that is  by speaking, eating and breathing fashion photography.

That means I surf the internet for inspiration, listen to glamorous songs, create a visual portfolio for the different poses I want to execute during the show, contact the models, create yet another visual portfolio (this one being for the wardrobe), articulate my ideas in the best way possible to the models, come up with pitches for the different people we will want to have their input.

Yeah, this is a lot of work.

The upside is that I get to overdose on optical nutrition both before, during and after the shoot.

Here is some visual candy that I have come across today.

Feast on it my loves

Looking all fabulous with Tanya

Let me get back to work.
